Nemesis

Joy’s cousin and arch rival, Sonam currently staying with her for company seems to irk her more than required. Apparently, she copies whatever Joy does and both occasionally hit each other to resolve issues then and there. Sonam is constantly bullied into calling Joy “didi” even if there’s only 6 months of age difference between them.

She goes through my purse thoroughly whenever I visit home, latches herself onto my neck and doesnt let go till I leave. Joy pushes her away whenever she sees so, out of jealously I persume. Both vie for my attention and I have a hard time deciding whom to look at next. Makes me feel very special indeed.

And when I told her I would be taking her pic, she immediately stopped what she was doing and posed like this.

Crankily yours

Shradha once remarked so in her blog:

The desire to do new and different things that interest you is inversely proportional to the spare time you have.

She meant since she was relatively free at work, her enthusiasm level to do anything had dropped to zero. In my case - since I have a 100 things to do simultaneously, I feel like blogging and relegating tales of some of the things that are currently bugging the hell out of me.

First of all, these forthcoming exams I got to take are making me more cranky than usual. I realized that I dont have time to go to work and do things required of me there, study, come back home, cook an elaborate dinner and again study all at the same time. Crankiness slowly becoming a way of life.

As if things couldnt get worse, my dog’s going into heat. Winkie is downright disgusting right now what with her moaning & panting as soon as she sees another dog. Ugh. Major spaying session is in order immediately next month. Crankiness intensified 130 times.

The weather’s gone crazy as I speak. Yesterday morning was so bright, sunny & terribly hot - I ended up eating two ice-creams at work. Well, I bought the first ice cream for myself. The second one was given by my colleague to whom I had remarked in the morning that she has a magic metabolic system which keeps her so damn thin even as she eats from 9 am to 5 pm nonstop.

I was happy I got a second ice cream but also sad that my metabolic system’s more lazy and blunted compared to hers.

Back to the weather, the pleasant and somewhat hot day suddenly took a U-turn and then out of nowhere thunder & lightening raged till 5 pm. The cold almost ripped my heart out by bedtime. Stupid weather.

On a more cheerful note, my students want to go for a picnic and the menu read something like this:

Puri (Not the regular crispy ones!!!)

Alu dum (Halka halka hot!!! Red!!! Not the yellow one!!!)

Vegetable pulao (Need volunteers for this. If no one volunteers, we will volunteer you. Signed - coordinators)

Sweets. Here, a diagram of a small circle within a big circle was made with an arrow pointing at the centre titled - soft & another arrow pointing at the outer titled - hard. Seems no one knows the name of that particular sweet. Good luck to whoever goes shopping for it.

‘Drinks’. At this point, its somewhat silly not to assume it’ll be soft drinks and nothing else. But I go on and ask them if they mean soft drinks and not even, say Breezer? I was right. Not even Bacardi breezer, it is.

Crankiness reigns supreme as a way of life. For now.

Its not my turn

lunch.jpg

My typical lunch break includes a short drive to the nearby food stalls along with three other colleagues who are also my good friends and lunch-mates. Recently, we made a pact that one person can foot the bill and this cycle is to be repeated for the rest of the members of the group. While it sounded ideal in the beginning, (I thought getting three free lunches was a pretty good idea) we soon realized that this practice does not bode well for the universal financial slump at the fag end of the month.

Also, I have noticed that we’ve started eating at cheap, unclean dhabas more frequently in an effort from certain parties to save money; while maintaining all the time that this place has the best food indeed:D So it was that one of my friend in the group has finally suggested making a table and entering names in a periodic manner because too many people have started saying Its not my turn today! (I myself recall saying these words too many times to count by now) We are still wondering how to solve this particular problem…

What a match! Jo Wilfried Tsonga was better than superb and I was cheering in his corner when Novak Djokovic upped him (and how) in the finals. I’m having a hard time remaining Federer’s loyal fan with these two fast rising titans on the scene.

Major disappointment to watch Sania and Bhupathi lose the Mixed Doubles in the finals. Better luck next time. Now all there’s left to watch on tv is Ms Saroj Khan teaching me how to dance like Madhuri Dixit on NDTV’s newest channel Imagine. I know the full song for Ek Do Teen by now :)

Life

It really is. Isnt it?

He-pop

Apparently one taxi driver in my locality likes hip hop music so much that he decided to have the name of the music (that he likes so much) painted on top of the windshield of the taxi.

Unfortunately either the painter never heard of the likes of such music and decided to go by the local pronunciation in his head or possibly whoever gave him the spelling thought the music had too much of machismo not to be pronounced otherwise - in the end the sign on the taxi read: HE-POP!
