In dog years, I’m dead

thirty

Today is the last day I will be able to say I am 29. There are very few instances in life when one wants time to stand still and I figure this is definitely one of them. Its surreal leaving the 20’s behind and turning old is cruel, nay excruciatingly painful. Who knew this day would one day arrive.

I was ranting about the very same thing to a friend of mine who had an interesting thing to say: 30’s are the best years of one’s life. According to him, the 20’s are when you’re discovering yourself; maybe experimenting with things, pleasant or otherwise. And a whole lot of drama naturally involved.

On the contrary, the 30’s are when you’ve accepted who you are and you finally learn to make peace with yourself. You know what you want and dont; and basically live life as per your choices and no one else’s.

This made a lot of sense to me. And if at all, what he says is true, I can stop fussing about a number that decides how old I should be because facebook says I’m mentally only 13.

Here’s to three decades well spent. I didnt want to turn 30 but looks like time had other plans!

To being thirty. And (hopefully) stopping the count at that and no, I dont mean anything drastic like dying within this year.

30 and none the wiser. And we shall live happily ever after.

As much as I am happy for you, I also feel the cruel pleasure.. can I call you Rinchen aunty? :P

Coming to the blogosphere after a long time, and I have a lot of cleanup to do! (My Google Reader shows thousands of unread) I think I’ll also join the club by the time I finish reading all the posts.

  • Thank you guys :)

    1. My mobile phone was lost. Bought a new one recently.

    2. Rinchen aunty says – hiiiyyaaa (kung fu style) :)

  • Hi Rinchen

Good to see u back in blogosphere.

    Happy Birthday to you……..belated.

I am really really very jealous of you.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL STATE U LIVE IN.

i recently had a wonderful tour of Sikkim . Its awesome yaar.

On the way to Gangtok, our car passed through Singtam….and was

    thinking about u.

Singtam is wonderful too with that river flowing

through it.I loved the atmosphere in Sikkim.

Anyways, please post some articles on Sikkimese culture, cuisine etc.

Lastly, i will surely visit beautiful Sikkim again in future.

  • By the way , post more often.

  • Hey IP,

Thanks so much :) I hope you had a good time visiting Sikkim and that you will visit again sometime soon :)

I should post more often. I should stop being so lazy :)

    • “I should post more often. I should stop being so lazy”

Thats a problem with me too.
So many things go through my mind…..but i just dont feel like sitting and arranging my thoughts into an article.

Anyways, i will surely visit Sikkim within a few years time.

By the way,i wanted to enjoy the local Sikkimese cuisine for dinner but did not find any restaurants specializing in local Sikkimese food in Gangtok . Thats my only regret . But i loved those momos.

All in all, i had a great time.

  • So i am the last one to wish u a belated birthday madam…….u knw that i am really a bhullakar….

nevertheless i am happy just to see u back…..writing on ur much famed blog.

  • I heard that there’s this place that specializes in authentic Sikkimese cuisine… Vidya told me about it once. Although, as for me – give me authentic Kerala food anyday :)

Thank you, sirji. Me too happy to be back on an okay-blog :D

  • Hi Rinchen,

Surely i will check out the restaurant next time.
Whenever i travel i focus on two important things apart from usual sight-seeing.
They are local people and local food.

Going to a place like Gangtok and eating Bengali/north/south indian food makes no sense to me.

    Anyways, never tried Kerala food.
